There is been a lot of progress recently.

• He says mama-mama-mama all the time, and it does not mean mama
• He points to a plain in the air
• He points to a light, and shows the light, when I ask: where is the light
• he seems to understand Turkish the best :-) May be because he hears it only from one person  ( Я сегодня говорю няне: Кенан показывает на лампочку, когда я спрашиваю "где лампочка?".  А няня говорит, а я ее огоньком называю :-) )
• He wants to climb everywhere
• He learned to ask for help: if he wants to get somewhere but  he can't he comes to you and takes your hand and leads to where he wants to go.  Yesterday, for the first time he lead me to the swing on the playground.
  
• He really knows what he wants. If you don't help him/don't let him to climb wherever he wants, he starts crying.
  
• He can walk a long distance. Unfortunately, not always in the required direction.  He is pretty stable on different kinds of surfaces: grass, asphalt, uphill and downhill.
• He can easily eat half of a banana.

Achievements:

• He walks. He even walked outside and chased another boy on a playground
• He  eats pretty much everything given to him (which is mostly vegetables, fruits and  cereal). But he refuses to drink anything but breast milk.
• He started putting things in a container, even occasionally he puts cups one inside the other. He loves pushing and pulling stuff, which includes he stroller, his truck and an ottoman.

• he can pull up to standing position in many places from many positions and then sit back down
• he can sit from lying on the  stomach.

• he likes to "pet" the cats (pull their hair). Cats, however, don't enjoy this
• all he wants is to walk around holding to somebody's hands
• he can crawl normally, but prefers his own style
  
• he gets into all the places he should not

Kenan just pulled himself up in a crib from sitting position. He's been trying to do it for a while, but could not find the good place

It's been a while since last post... Since then a lot of things happened:

• New tooth appeared about 2 weeks ago. It is on the top, but not in the middle but second from the center to the left
• Now Kenan can seat pretty well
• Kenan started crawling last week in a butterfly/ caterpillar style: he pulls his legs up, then he thrusts his body ahead
• He's been eating veggies since 7 months. So far he tried zucchini, butternut squash, cauliflower, peas and carrots. He was not crazy about green beans
• He is not crazy about cereal
• He's grown out of his carseat
• He is trying to get everything he can put his hands on into his mouth. He managed to pull stuff from a shelf in a store while his parents were paying at the register :-)

Since access to Internet was difficult for the last month the report is delayed.

Now Kenan is 5 and a half months and he made a lot of progress. Finally he is able to turn from his back to his belly consistently. Sometimes he turns from his belly to his back but it does not look like he mastered this move yet. He also sometimes can sit in a frog position for a little time and stand on a lap.  He likes to sit on a lap while holding on to fingers. The little one likes to talk a lot. Recently he learned a new sound which is rather loud and annoying and difficult to describe and likes to make it a lot.
 Almost forgot... :-)  Kenan now has 2 teeth. The first one made an appearance   when Kenan was  5 month 5 days old.  Aside from some crankiness the teething was pretty easy as far as parents are concerned.

today k started turning over from his belly. We wanted to record it on video but camera had low battery. The memory card on photo camera was full. But we had yet another camera. I'll post the video when we come back

Several new skills appeared in the last couple of weeks. Now Kenan can:

• Carry weight on his legs for some time
  
• Turn over from belly to back.  But he does not do it often.
• Make a lot of different sounds.

Yesterday Kenan turned 4 months.  Now he can:

• Crawl on his belly  by lifting his behind and pushing with his legs. He can cover around 1 meter pretty fast and then he starts crying. But he is absolutely not interested in rolling over from his belly, though he's done twice. And he rolled from his back to his side yesterday.
  
• Grab a rattle and put it in his mouth. 
  

He sleeps  through the night from 8-9 pm to 4-5 am.

Last friday Kenan turned 3 months.  Now he can:

• Crawl on his belly 20-30 cm by lifting his behind and pushing with his legs
• Put his hands together
• Smile widely and sometimes laugh.

He sleeps a lot less and sometimes (not often) sleeps through the night. He does not sleep all the time during the walks and looks around.
Also last weekend he went for his first camping trip. He came back without even a mosquito bite.

Just now a five year old girl squeezed  K.'s cheeks in the elevator.  It happened so fast  I could not stop her. She was standing next to him and just did it while I was talking to her father.

11 lb 7 oz  and 56 cm today

K is listening to American Idol and singing along :-)

K. went to New Jersey first time on Saturday to visit our friends. Apparently there is a Turkish tradition where the baby goes out for and visits somebody on 40th day. Cuneyt have not heard about this tradition and our friends were kind of murky on details, but we got a bag with eggs and sweets :-)

On K. went to Nassau County Museum of Art. Already starting the art education. There is a very nice park there with sculptures. This picture was taken there.

We went for a check-up today. K. is 9 lb 7 oz. No wonder he seems so heavy :-)

    K. slept most of this month and pooped. A lot. I would estimate that at least 500 diapers were changed.

    K. sometimes can hold his head and can lift his head when on his stomach.
 
    K. already visited his grandma several times and went to Jones Beach once (On April 3rd).

    K. goes for a walk every day.   We usually go  for a walk in Forest Hills Gardens, looking for a house to live in (kidding...).

Got Social Security number today. Now I can start working...
